As someone who used to work in customer service as a trainer, I can confirm that what you report here is very common indeed. Women agents are usually the targets. Because telephone agents can be held responsible for hanging up on callers, they are forced to endure these calls much longer than necessary.
I'm sorry to hear you experienced these things. You're absolutely right. There need to be better, more protective guidelines. Thanks for shining a light on this harassment.
