Bravo, Steve. You nailed it. Now if you can just put everything you've said here into pill form, maybe Dr. King's words would finally begin to transform those who still believe in the power of the curse. Of course, you'd need a catchy jingle and a TV commercial to market it. How about "We Shall Overcome" set to a jazz-reggae fusion beat?

PS: I missed that Uber vs. Karen tweet on Twitter, but now that you've pointed it out, I find it hilarious.

PPS: When I was a kid growing up middle-class in Atlanta, someone called my sister a nigger, and she ran home to tell my father about it. Dad stopped sawing the piece of wood he'd been working on and said, "Are you?" And she said, "No, of course not!" My Dad's response: "Well, don't worry about it." And that's pretty much how every one of my siblings think about it. We were just lucky, I guess.

Thanks for writing this terrific essay. I just signed up for your Substack and look forward to more of your commentary.
