Joseph Campbell once said life is like giving a violin recital while learning to play the violin at the same time. (At least, I think it was Campbell).

When I attended a lecture he gave in San Francisco, he began with this quote by his wife Jean who, as you may know, was part of Martha Graham's dance company. "Being an artist is a lot like being a mystic. Both go out to the rim of experience. But only the artist is able to report back to the rest of us.
