So many wonderful references in this piece. As usual, you've offered plenty to think about. And it's all really good stuff. Marvin Gaye's wonderful song fits perfectly with the philosophers you mention, even the Manicheans, I suppose. Where would a guy like Marvin be without their dualism to fuel his poetry?
