Thanks for reading my essay, Rebecca, and for providing your own unique perspective. I was surprised to read elsewhere that skin-lightening creams were marketed quite widely in India. It is sad, as you point out, to find this in a country where most people have the blessing of pigment.

Although I haven't researched the impact of colorism in India, I do wonder if all those years of Imperialist raj rule has anything to do with it. I look forward to reading your recent piece about this same issue. Be well, my friend.
