This doesn't sound like trolling to me. I'm really glad you read it and added your thoughts. As for Jane Campion, her remarks were ill-conceived for sure. She should have stayed away from the Williams altogether. There was just no need for her to go there.
But if she makes another movie, I wouldn't boycott it. There's a lot of bad stuff Hemingway said and did, too. But he rose above his small self when he made art. When I read 'A Farewell to Arms' or 'For Whom the Bell Tolls,' all I see is the work.
Experience has taught me that my best writing does not come from me but from some other higher, better place I sometimes manage to connect with while stringing sentences together.
