This is a beautiful, informative, and honest piece. Acne is not an issue for me, but I've had friends who experienced what you describe.

What I like most about this story is that it nails the way we focus on achieving some goal before we can begin to accept ourselves. If only I can I lose the weight, sell the novel, make the winning touchdown, become a lawyer, heal the acne. When all along, what we need most is already present within. Thank you for writing this. It's about far more than acne. Happiness, as Viktor Frankl wrote, cannot be pursued. You do the right things, and happiness ensues. Keep going.
