This is a very bleak situation. I'm reading this after watching the first week's testimony in the Derek Chauvin trial. Watching the witnesses break down in tears as they retell and relive what happened that terrible day reminds all of us of this tragedy all over again.

I am so sorry to hear of how all this racism has impacted your small child. It shouldn't be that way. I'm glad he has loving and supportive parents. But I am left with the same questions you raise. What about those who don't? What will happen to them? Thanks for writing this thoughtful piece.
