Totally agree with you about The Sound and the Fury. And Faulkner doesn’t give the reader one iota of help. Once you’re in, though, it’s wonderful. First time I read To the Lighthouse, I put it down three times before finally “getting it” one night around midnight after a couple of drinks. BTW, I wouldn’t put Dostoyevsky’s Brothers K on this list either.
