Yes, I totally agree. It’s what I say when people want something different from my work. “Write your own!” What then is this piece? Nothing more than an exercise in “if wishes were fishes” cultural criticism.

Still, the story’s blind spot may very well find its origin in the limitations of the original creator for whom the racial implications were less important than they are for others. Thank you, as always, for reading and weighing in. I really appreciate it!
