Your wonderful essay has inspired me so much. First, I can really relate to it. Brainy in class, I was terrible on the basketball court and football field. It was not until I took up tennis that I found a sport I could at least feel comfortable playing.
We all need a context sport, the one that fits who we are, much more than a contact sport. We also need instructors who know how to build confidence instead of tearing us down. I remember how freeing it felt when I finally conquered my inherited fear of water and learned to swim. Your delightful piece reminds me to get back in the pool and enjoy myself again.
Thanks so much for writing it. And bravo to you on your journey. You've earned those dolphin kisses for sure.
