You’ve made an excellent point with this story, and I hope many people read it. What adds power to your article is the fact that you’ve added specific instances of your behavior and compared your outcomes to specific and far different outcomes in cases involving African Americans.

But here’s what’s really significant about your story: it demonstrates that you have taken the time to look within and reflect. It’s one thing to talk about white privilege in a general sense. But it’s far more helpful when someone like you shows up with specific examples.

I’m glad you ended by addressing others who are white to consider similar instances in their own lives. I’ve seen movements come and go in this country, but I have never seen anyone do what you’ve done here.
